Sorry about your camera. I think pretty much any 8+ Mp DSLR will be good. You'll have to see which you prefer. For myself, I'm very interested in the new Pentax K10D which is 10Mp and has a number of interesting features, especially in-body anti-shake mechanism which allows lower shutter speeds, weather-sealing, and great ergonomics, and excellent image quality (from what I've seen - though really, they all do) at a price very close to the a100. My second choice would be the Nikon D80. Both these cameras have really solidly made bodies and excellent viewfinders (extremely important in a DSLR). The Canon XTi is a bit small for my taste and has a small viewfinder. The a100 also has antishake, which is good, but seems to have high ISO noise in abundance, and a smallish viewfinder. Hope that helps, but look at them all in person, and get the one that works best for you.
